Montpellier Airport Unveils Ambitious Summer 2026 Flight Program
As of April 5, 2026, Montpellier-Méditerranée Airport has announced a remarkable expansion for the summer of 2026, featuring a record total of 39 direct destinations. This strategic enhancement significantly boosts the airport's connections to Morocco, including the introduction of a new route to Tanger, while also increasing the frequency of flights to popular Moroccan cities such as Marrakech, Rabat, and Casablanca. With the aim of accommodating the growing travel demand, Transavia has launched a direct flight to Tanger and is augmenting its service to Marrakech, ensuring that travelers have more options than ever before.
For the summer season of 2026, Montpellier Airport is set to offer 1,460,000 seats, marking a 3.2% increase in capacity. Among the 39 destinations serviced by fourteen airlines, Morocco plays a pivotal role in the airport's growth strategy. Starting April 22, an additional weekly flight will be introduced to Rabat, while Royal Air Maroc is also increasing its flights to Casablanca, solidifying its status as a key hub for African connections. This strategic deployment is aimed at revitalizing traffic following a slight decline in 2025.
Expanding International Connections and Strengthening Mediterranean Links
The overall offering at Montpellier Airport is supported by partnerships with major airlines such as Air France, KLM, and the recent addition of Aer Lingus with services to Dublin. While the network is expanding towards Northern Europe with destinations like Stockholm and Manchester, the focus remains on enhancing connections within the Mediterranean basin. In mid-July 2026, Transavia is set to commence two new international routes from Montpellier Airport, providing weekly flights to both Tanger in Morocco and Malaga in Spain. This expansion is part of Transavia's ongoing efforts to strengthen its presence in Morocco, including a new winter route that aligns with the renewal of its partnership with the Moroccan National Tourism Office (ONMT).
