Significant Growth in Air Traffic
The National Office of Airports in Morocco has reported a remarkable influx of travelers, with a total of 22,282,997 passengers passing through the country’s airports during the first seven months of 2026. This figure marks an impressive increase of 8.77% compared to the same period in 2025, indicating a robust recovery and growth in the aviation sector.
According to the statistics released by the office, which pertain specifically to commercial air traffic for July 2026, the rise in passenger numbers can be segmented into international air traffic and domestic travel. International travel saw a significant boost, rising by 8.82% to reach 19,894,489 passengers, while domestic air travel increased by 8.36%, totaling 2,388,508 passengers.
Leading Airports and Regional Performance
Among the busiest airports, Mohammed V Airport in Casablanca led the way, accommodating 6,953,695 passengers. Following this were Marrakech-Menara Airport with 6,407,303 travelers, Agadir-Al Massira Airport with 2,179,857 passengers, Tangier Ibn Battouta Airport with 1,711,764 travelers, and Rabat-Salé Airport with 1,446,355 passengers. The international air traffic has notably thrived, propelled mainly by a strong performance from the European market, which remains the primary source of travelers, accounting for over 16 million passengers—a 9.29% increase year-on-year.
Additionally, South American, North American, and African markets displayed robust growth, with increases of 34.21% to 62,880 travelers, 14.54% to 581,297 passengers, and 13.74% to 1,175,674 travelers, respectively. Similarly, travel traffic with Maghreb countries saw a rise of 10.06%, reaching 295,188 passengers. In contrast, air traffic with the Middle East and Far East experienced a decline of 4.12%, totaling 1,238,443 travelers.
Furthermore, Moroccan airports recorded a total of 164,164 aircraft movements by the end of July 2026, which reflects a growth of 9.82% compared to the same timeframe last year. Mohammed V Airport again led with 55,223 movements, followed by Marrakech-Menara with 42,028 and Agadir-Al Massira with 15,009 movements. In terms of air freight, a total of 66,980.55 tons was transported in the first seven months of the year, marking a growth of 12.61% compared to the same period in 2025. For July 2026 alone, Moroccan airports welcomed 3,450,846 travelers.
