Celebrating Moroccan Craftsmanship at American Dreams

In a remarkable event coinciding with the 2026 World Cup taking place across the United States, Canada, and Mexico, the Moroccan Traditional Crafts Exhibition was officially inaugurated on Monday at the renowned American Dreams shopping center in New Jersey. This exhibition aims to enhance the visibility of Moroccan craftsmanship on the global stage and promote the rich artisanal heritage of Morocco.

The exhibition is organized in partnership with the Consulate General of the Kingdom of Morocco in New York, the Ministry of Tourism, Handicrafts, Social and Solidarity Economy, and the Craft Chamber of the Rabat-Salé-Kenitra region. Nearly twenty Moroccan exhibitors are participating, showcasing diverse sectors of traditional crafts that highlight the country's cultural wealth.

The opening ceremony was attended by prominent figures, including Mohamed Ait Behi, the Consul General of Morocco in New York, and Abdel Rahim El Zmizami, the President of the Craft Chamber of the Rabat-Salé-Kenitra region. Their presence, along with various officials from the American Dreams shopping center and several African consuls, underscored the significance of this event, which attracted numerous visitors eager to explore Moroccan artistry.

Strategic Importance of the Exhibition

The strategic importance of the exhibition is significant, particularly given its prime location in the largest shopping center in the state, just a stone's throw from the MetLife Stadium, which is set to host several World Cup matches, including the final. This proximity presents an exceptional opportunity for a wide international audience, representing diverse nationalities and cultures, as well as the Moroccan community residing in the United States, to appreciate exquisite works of art that vividly reflect the richness and authenticity of Moroccan traditional crafts, combining the skill of Moroccan artisans with creativity and excellence.

In a statement to Hespress on this occasion, Consul General Ait Behi emphasized that this initiative seeks to strengthen and enhance Morocco's presence in the United States and at various international platforms, while solidifying the strategic partnership between the two countries, especially amid the celebration of the 250th anniversary of Moroccan-American relations. He noted that this momentum encompasses all fields, particularly after the United States recognized Morocco's full sovereignty over its southern regions, thanks to the wise policies and foresight of King Mohammed VI.

Moreover, the Consul General added that the exhibition also aims to showcase Morocco's tourist and artisanal potential while highlighting the skills, competencies, and innovative spirit that characterize Moroccan artisans. This initiative exemplifies the cultural, civilizational, and sporting influence of the kingdom under the comprehensive development and wise leadership of the nation’s monarch.

This cultural and economic event is part of the ongoing efforts by the Craft Chamber of the Rabat-Salé-Kenitra region, in collaboration with various stakeholders, to support Moroccan artisans and encourage their openness to international markets, ensuring the enhancement of the competitiveness and status of Moroccan traditional products on the global stage.
