Crackdown on Laughing Gas Trafficking in Marrakech

On Monday evening, the Judicial Police of the Royal Gendarmerie in Marrakech successfully dismantled a criminal operation suspected of being involved in the distribution of what is commonly referred to as "laughing gas." This significant law enforcement operation led to the arrest of three individuals, including two foreign nationals, and the seizure of various items associated with the illicit activity.

This operation was part of a broader security initiative overseen by the regional commander of the Royal Gendarmerie, in coordination with the regional command in Marrakech. It was executed following the gathering of precise intelligence and extensive field investigations. Initial inquiries pointed to the presence of two suspects in the Sharifia area, prompting the Judicial Police to intervene and arrest them while they were in a luxury vehicle. The arrested individuals included a Moroccan citizen and a foreign national.

Upon searching the vehicle, the police discovered a significant quantity of laughing gas, alongside a collection of documents that raised suspicions of forgery, including foreign passports and seals, as well as several mobile phones. The Judicial Police continued their investigations to ascertain the source of the seized items and to uncover the broader network associated with these illicit activities. This led to the identification of the primary supplier.

Subsequently, the same police unit successfully apprehended a third suspect, a foreign national in his thirties, who was found in another luxury vehicle in the Gueliz district of Marrakech. During the search, authorities also seized a substantial amount of foreign currency and jewelry, in addition to mobile phones. The three detainees were then taken to the Judicial Police headquarters in Marrakech.

All arrested individuals are currently undergoing judicial investigations under the supervision of the relevant public prosecutor's office, as authorities work to clarify all circumstances surrounding the case, reveal the potential structure of the trafficking network, and determine the specific charges against each of the detainees involved in this serious matter.
