The Moroccan feature film "Luggage Rack," directed by Abdelkarim Al-Fassi, has secured the prestigious Best Film award at the 44th edition of the Bergamo Film Meeting held in Italy from March 7 to March 15. This accolade was officially announced by the Moroccan Cinematic Center, marking a significant achievement in the international film landscape.
"Luggage Rack" was previously showcased in the "Moroccan Cinema Panorama" section during the 22nd Marrakech International Film Festival, where it competed against six other films selected based on the festival's traditional focus on innovative artistic styles presented by emerging directors. The film, running for a total of 104 minutes, features a stellar cast including Ahlam Taghdouini, Mahjoub Benmoussa, and Mohamed Al-Shiara.
The narrative revolves around Noor, a young woman who takes care of her father, Moussa, as he battles a chronic illness. While she aspires to become a professional chef in Paris, she faces the internal conflict of pursuing her dream versus her familial responsibilities. Moussa expresses a desire to return to Morocco, a suggestion that initially meets Noor's hesitation. However, as the story unfolds, she begins to contemplate a solution that harmonizes her father's wish to emigrate with her ambition to lead an independent life.
