Ministry of Culture Launches Distribution of Professional Cards
The Moroccan Ministry of Culture is set to begin the distribution of professional cards for artists, technicians, and administrative staff involved in the arts by the end of March 2026. This announcement comes after the ministry's committee completed its review of applications for these essential cards, which serve as official recognition of professionals within the cultural sector.
According to the ministry's statement, the first batch of professional cards will be distributed to those who submitted their applications by December 31, 2025. Eligible individuals are encouraged to visit their respective regional cultural offices to collect their cards starting March 27, 2026. Furthermore, the Ministry has emphasized that a second list of eligible individuals will be announced at the end of April, while applications for the professional cards will remain open year-round. Interested candidates can check the results of the committee's work through the ministry’s official website.
It is important to note that the professional card for artists faces significant challenges in various Arab nations, particularly in the Maghreb region, including Morocco. These challenges include lengthy processing times that can exceed one year and administrative complexities that complicate the issuance process. Many artists have expressed concerns that the card has become a financial burden, requiring social security contributions without a stable income. Additionally, issues surrounding the criteria for awarding these cards have also been reported.
