In light of the increased demand for travel, the federation has issued warnings about the proliferation of social media scams targeting Moroccan travelers. Many unauthorized accounts, particularly on platforms like Facebook, offer travel-related services without any affiliation to recognized agencies, a situation exacerbated in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. Semlali voiced concerns about the difficulties consumers face in distinguishing legitimate travel agencies from fraudulent operators, particularly as some rogue pages mimic the appearance of licensed entities to lure unsuspecting customers. The federation has reported numerous cases involving fake travel packages, leaving victims to navigate legal recourse after realizing they had been deceived. To combat this growing issue, Semlali urged for more decisive action from the relevant authorities and a comprehensive review of the regulatory framework governing travel agencies. He argued that stricter regulations could help protect consumers and level the playing field for licensed operators who adhere to legal and professional standards.
