New Visa Policy for Moroccan Nationals Traveling to Peru
In a significant move that enhances travel opportunities for Moroccan citizens, Peru has officially waived the tourist visa requirement for Moroccan nationals who hold valid ordinary passports accompanied by either a Schengen visa or a U.S. visa. This policy change was formalized through Supreme Decree No. 033-2026-RE, which was published in the country’s Official Gazette, El Peruano, on July 25, 2026. This decree signifies a notable shift in Peru's immigration policy, allowing eligible Moroccan travelers to stay in the country for a maximum of 183 days within a one-year period, whether continuously or through multiple visits.
To take advantage of this new policy, Moroccan travelers must ensure that both their passport and the qualifying visa remain valid for at least six months upon entry into Peru. This decision has been characterized by the Peruvian government as being based on the principle of reciprocity, considering that Morocco has also permitted Peruvian citizens with ordinary passports to enter the country visa-free for tourism purposes since 2017.
