The presiding judge of the Criminal Court Section Number 1 in Ceuta has imposed a ruling against a 22-year-old Moroccan national for committing an offense against law enforcement officers. The accused, who was brought before the court by the National Police, admitted to the charges and accepted a prison sentence of two years. However, this sentence will not result in his incarceration, as the court has opted to substitute the prison term with a five-year expulsion from the mainland territory, in line with the judicial agreement following the defendant's admission of guilt.

Details of the Incident

The events transpired around 10:20 PM on September 2 when the accused was near the Paseo Alcalde Sánchez Prados. At that time, officers from the National Police, who were in full uniform and performing their duties, observed the young man fleeing while being pursued by several individuals demanding his arrest. The police repeatedly called for him to stop, but he ignored their commands and continued to run until he was eventually intercepted by members of the Civil Guard, who were also in uniform.

Resistance During Arrest

It was at this moment that the accused allegedly offered significant resistance to his arrest. According to the established facts, he violently attacked the officers by kicking and striking them in an effort to avoid being subdued and detained. In response to this aggression, the officers were compelled to use the necessary force to apprehend him. Despite the resistance demonstrated by the accused during the intervention, it is noteworthy that none of the police officers sustained injuries. The defendant acknowledged his actions before the judicial authority and accepted a two-year prison sentence for the assault charge. Ultimately, this penalty was transformed into a five-year expulsion from the mainland territory, as stipulated in the court's ruling.
