Significant Contributions by Moroccan Institutions to Jerusalem
In a recent announcement, Mohamed Salem Al-Sharqi, the director of the Jerusalem Fund Management Agency, revealed that Moroccan institutions and private entities contribute nearly 35 million dirhams each year to support various programs and projects aimed at benefiting Jerusalem and its residents. This annual contribution runs alongside the operational budget, which is entirely funded by Morocco.
During an informational meeting held in Fes, Al-Sharqi highlighted that since 2011, Morocco has been the sole financier of the agency's operational budget, which stands at approximately 23 million dirhams annually. The contributions from institutions and private actors provide additional resources, amounting to around 35 million dirhams each year, designated for field projects within the holy city.
Furthermore, Al-Sharqi noted that the agency has continued to implement its programs despite the challenging circumstances faced in Palestinian territories. The total budget for its interventions from October 2023 to December 2025 is projected to be 14.2 million dollars, of which over 3 million dollars is allocated for humanitarian and emergency assistance directed towards the Gaza Strip as part of the solidarity mobilization initiated by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, the Chairman of the Al-Quds Committee.
In this context, Al-Sharqi reviewed the first-year achievements of the partnership agreement signed between the Jerusalem Fund Management Agency and the city of Fes in July 2025, which has an overall budget of 10 million dirhams over five years. He explained that the first tranche of Fes's contribution, amounting to 2 million dirhams for the year 2025, has funded 300 scholarships for Jerusalemite students valued at 750,000 dirhams, provided direct support to Palestinian families in Jerusalem and its surrounding villages worth 740,000 dirhams, and supported the sports club of the African Community Association in the old city of Jerusalem with 510,000 dirhams.
Additionally, Al-Sharqi emphasized the progress that the agency has made in governance and transparency, culminating in the acquisition of the international compliance certificate ISO 9001:2015. He reaffirmed the ongoing efforts to enhance the effectiveness of social and developmental programs directed at the residents of Jerusalem.
