Morocco Adjusts World Cup Roster Ahead of Clash with Brazil

In a strategic move just two days before their highly anticipated World Cup Group C opener against Brazil, Morocco has announced significant changes to their roster. The team has made two key substitutions, bringing in Amine Sbai to replace star forward Abde Ezzalzouli and Marwane Saadane stepping in for defender Nayef Aguerd. These adjustments come in light of injury concerns that could impact Morocco's performance in the tournament.

Abde Ezzalzouli, a promising talent at just 24 years old, suffered a right leg injury during a recent match against Norway, which ended in a 1-1 draw. The injury occurred when he collided with teammate Chadi Riad, leading to a diagnosis of a Grade 2 MCL sprain. This injury is expected to keep Ezzalzouli on the sidelines for approximately four to six weeks. Known for his impressive skills, Ezzalzouli has previously played for Barcelona and is currently competing with Real Betis in Spain's top division.

Meanwhile, veteran defender Nayef Aguerd, who was instrumental in Morocco's remarkable run to the semifinals in the last World Cup held in Qatar, has not played since March 4 due to persistent groin issues. At 30 years old, Aguerd's absence is a significant blow to the team, as his experience and defensive capabilities are crucial for Morocco's aspirations in the tournament.

Marwane Saadane, aged 34 and currently playing for Al Fateh SC in Saudi Arabia, and Amine Sbai, a 26-year-old defender for French club Angers SC, will now have the opportunity to showcase their skills on the international stage. Morocco's schedule also includes future matches against Scotland on June 19 in Foxborough, Massachusetts, and Haiti on June 24 in Atlanta, adding to the excitement of their World Cup journey.
