Morocco and Guinea Reinforce Their Strategic Cooperation
On September 8, 2026, Morocco and Guinea reaffirmed their mutual commitment to invigorate the strategic partnership between the two nations, aiming to enhance their economic, commercial, and cooperative relations. This significant pledge was made during the 8th session of the Moroccan-Guinean Joint Cooperation Commission, co-chaired by Morocco's Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccans Abroad, Nasser Bourita, alongside Guinea's Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Integration, and Guineans Abroad, Dr. Morissanda Kouyaté.
During this session, both ministers expressed their satisfaction with the enduring ties of friendship, cooperation, and solidarity that characterize the relationship between the two countries. They acknowledged the mutual esteem and respect exemplified by the relationship between His Majesty King Mohammed VI and President Mamadi Doumbouya, emphasizing the historical significance of their collaboration.
A Vision for Sustainable Development
After a comprehensive review of the current state of bilateral cooperation, they reiterated their shared desire to elevate the Morocco-Guinea partnership to a strategic level, rooted in mutual interests, co-prosperity, and sustainable development. The aim is to create an exemplary and innovative model of South-South cooperation. In this context, Minister Bourita praised President Doumbouya's vision encapsulated in the SIMANDOU 2040 program, highlighting Morocco's readiness to share its development experiences in alignment with the High Directives of His Majesty King Mohammed VI.
Furthermore, Bourita conveyed Morocco's willingness to contribute to the implementation of this program, particularly in priority areas such as strategic infrastructure, security, fisheries, health, industrial and agricultural transformation, food security, skills training, hydraulics, and energy. Both parties celebrated the strengthening of the legal framework governing their bilateral cooperation, marked by the signing of 25 cooperation agreements during the 8th session. These agreements span various sectors, including economy, finance, air transport, customs, agriculture, energy, tourism, justice, health, meteorology and climatology, ports, housing and urban development, sports, culture, handicrafts, higher education, scientific research, innovation, and the provision of academic scholarships and vocational training.
Both ministers committed to ensuring the effective follow-up on the implementation of this enriched legal framework, aiming to further consolidate the privileged relations between the Kingdom of Morocco and the Republic of Guinea.
