In response to these claims, Morocco's Ministry of the Interior announced on Wednesday that it would implement necessary measures to thwart any new crossing attempts related to these calls while also pursuing individuals suspected of promoting such irregular migration via social media platforms. On Saturday, Moroccan media reported the detention of 61 people on suspicion of involvement in inciting and promoting these calls for illegal migration.
This security operation comes on the heels of a significant influx of migrants attempting to reach Ceuta roughly two weeks ago, which resulted in numerous fatalities, according to local sources.
