Morocco Emerges as Spain's Leading Cucumber Supplier in 2025

Moroccan Cucumbers Dominate the Spanish Market

In 2025, Morocco established itself as a formidable player in the cucumber market, emerging as the primary supplier to Spain and capturing an impressive 71.71% of the nation's total cucumber imports. This translates to 18,240 tons of cucumbers out of a cumulative total of 25,440 tons imported by Spain during that year. The data starkly illustrates the significant foothold that Moroccan cucumbers have secured within the Spanish market, showcasing their popularity and reliability among Spanish consumers.

Spain's overall cucumber imports in 2025 were valued at an astounding 30.9 million euros, reflecting a remarkable increase of over 248% in volume and a staggering 340% in value when compared to the figures from 2016. Such growth underscores the robust demand for cucumbers in Spain, with Moroccan exports leading the charge. In fact, Moroccan cucumber exports alone were valued at 21.1 million euros, with an average import price of 1.16 euros per kilogram. These statistics highlight a decade of significant growth, with exports skyrocketing by approximately 313.7% and volume increasing by 215.6% over the past ten years, affirming Morocco's position as a vital supplier in the European market.

While Morocco leads the market, other suppliers fall significantly behind. Germany holds the second position with an 11.08% share of Spain's cucumber imports, translating to a value of 4.29 million euros. Following closely behind, Portugal claims 9.11% of the market, valued at 2.49 million euros. The Netherlands contributes a modest 2.10% with a valuation of 0.91 million euros, while France occupies the fifth position with a mere 1.86% share, valued at 453,949 euros. These figures reveal the competitive landscape of cucumber imports into Spain, with Morocco firmly at the forefront.
