Morocco Strengthens Military Training with Advanced F-16 Simulators

Morocco is set to significantly enhance the training capabilities of its F-16 Block 72 crews through a newly awarded contract by the American authorities to CAE Inc. This agreement, valued at over $42 million, involves the provision of simulation systems and logistical support tailored for the Royal Moroccan Air Force. According to information released by the US Department of Defense in its military contract announcement, the Arlington, Texas-based company will supply two comprehensive mission simulation systems, known as "Full Mission Trainers." These systems are designed to allow crews to practice in environments that realistically replicate operations conducted aboard the F-16 Block 72 aircraft.

The contract encompasses various components, including instructor and operator stations, cockpits that simulate those of the F-16 Block 72, visualization and computation systems, as well as electrical distribution equipment. Additionally, it includes the supply of second-generation helmet-mounted targeting systems, uninterruptible power supplies, a central file server, spare parts, and various support equipment. The execution of these services will take place both in Arlington, Texas, and at the Sidi Slimane Air Base in Morocco, with completion expected by April 30, 2029, as per the timeline provided by the US administration.

Reinforcing Morocco's F-16 Ecosystem

The funding for this operation falls under the American Foreign Military Sales (FMS) program, with $37 million already allocated for the initiative at the time the contract was awarded. CAE specializes in simulation and aeronautical training technologies, offering solutions particularly aimed at training military pilots and maintenance personnel. The devices they provide range from digital training tools to full-scale simulators that replicate aerial missions.

This new contract represents a crucial step in strengthening the training ecosystem associated with Morocco's F-16 Block 72 aircraft.
