On Tuesday, September 8, 2026, Morocco inaugurated 15 new primary healthcare facilities across six regions, including Casablanca-Settat. This initiative comes as a result of the completion of their rehabilitation and equipping, as part of the Ministry of Health and Social Protection's ongoing efforts to enhance healthcare access and bring medical services closer to citizens.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Health and Social Protection, this initiative aligns with the implementation of royal directives aimed at reforming and upgrading the national health system. The objective is to strengthen health infrastructure and improve the quality of services provided to the public.

This expansion is part of the continued rollout of a national program to upgrade 1,600 primary healthcare institutions, with 500 of these scheduled for 2026. The aim is to elevate community healthcare facilities, enhance patient reception conditions, and ensure essential health services are available throughout various regions of the kingdom.

The newly operational healthcare institutions are distributed across six regions: Beni Mellal-Khenifra, Marrakesh-Safi, the East, Casablanca-Settat, Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima, and Guelmim-Oued Noun.

Strengthening the network of primary healthcare facilities is part of a broader reform initiative within the national health system, which focuses on bringing health services closer to citizens, particularly at the primary healthcare level, serving as the primary point of access to the health system.

This effort also supports the broader goal of social protection by providing a capable health infrastructure that can meet the growing demand for medical services and enhance integration across various levels of healthcare.

The Ministry of Health and Social Protection aims to improve service quality through the primary healthcare facility upgrade program, modernize equipment, and provide suitable environments for receiving citizens. This initiative is essential in reinforcing the role of healthcare institutions in the prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and health monitoring of the population.
