Morocco Strengthens Ties with Mali through Vocational Training Initiative
In a significant gesture of international cooperation, King Mohammed VI of Morocco has directed the transfer of the Mohammed VI Vocational Complex to the authorities of Mali. This state-of-the-art facility, which spans an impressive 5,200 square meters in Bamako, was developed by the Mohammed VI Foundation for Sustainable Development and aims to enhance vocational training in various fields, particularly in construction, hospitality, tourism, and catering. The complex is designed to meet the pressing employment and integration needs of Malian youth, providing them with essential skills that are aligned with market demands.
According to Moroccan diplomatic sources, the operationalization of this vocational center is set to accommodate nearly 1,000 trainees annually across 21 specialized training programs. These include 12 courses focused on construction and public works (BTP) and 9 courses dedicated to the hospitality and tourism sectors. This initiative reflects Morocco's commitment to fostering South-South cooperation based on solidarity, knowledge sharing, and the enhancement of local capacities.
During a recent visit to the site, Nasser Bourita, Morocco's Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccans Abroad, emphasized the royal vision that supports this collaboration. Meanwhile, Mali's Minister of National Entrepreneurship, Employment, and Vocational Training, Oumou Sall Seck, praised the initiative as a remarkable act that symbolizes the enduring bonds of fraternity and solidarity between the Kingdom of Morocco and the Republic of Mali. She highlighted that this project addresses a strategic need for skills development in Mali, reinforcing the importance of such cooperative efforts in driving economic growth and stability within the region.
