Morocco Hosts the Fourth Edition of GITEX Africa: A Leap Towards Technological Sovereignty

The Moroccan Prime Minister, Aziz Akhannouch, inaugurated the fourth edition of the GITEX Africa exhibition in Marrakech on Tuesday. In his opening remarks, he emphasized that the kingdom is adopting a strategic approach centered around 'technological sovereignty' and independence in innovation, aiming to harness the artificial intelligence revolution to build a robust digital economy.

This year's exhibition is witnessing remarkable participation, featuring around 1,450 exhibitors from 130 countries, with a strong emphasis on data center infrastructure and innovative financial solutions. The current edition highlights significant transformations in the financial technology (FinTech) sector, mobile payment solutions, and innovations in electric transportation and administrative artificial intelligence. Notably, the exhibition showcases pioneering Moroccan platforms, including a unique lost and found platform developed by Hanan El Kharshi, which stands out as the first of its kind in North Africa and the Middle East, underscoring the local talents' capacity to create advanced social and technological solutions.

International participants from the UAE, Italy, China, and Tunisia expressed to 'Sky News Arabia' their agreement that GITEX Africa has become a global platform for exchanging experiences and establishing strategic partnerships. Walid Al-Arian, the CEO of the UAE-based Alpha X, stated that 'Africa is the future,' while European participants praised the rapid pace and acceleration with which the region is adopting new technologies. This makes the exhibition, which continues until April 9, a crucial meeting point for exploring the prospects of technology and artificial intelligence on the continent.
