Morocco's Cyber Assault on University Guidance Platform
In a recent revelation by Abdel Jabbar Daoudi, the advisor to the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, it has come to light that the website for university guidance for the 2026 Baccalaureate candidates has been subjected to approximately 3,800 cyber attacks every day since July 15th. This alarming statistic was shared during Daoudi's appearance on the inaugural episode of the program "Wadih" broadcasted on "El Khabar TV." He stated that all digital platforms of the ministry, particularly those aimed at national registrations, have faced cyber assaults, a phenomenon which he claims is commonplace in the digital realm. However, he emphasized the resilience of the higher education system, noting that it is safeguarded by skilled engineers and technicians capable of countering these attacks, especially since the sources of these cyber threats are well-known.
Daoudi elaborated on the intelligence gathered regarding the origins of these attacks, suggesting that a state that harbors animosity and takes a stance against Algeria is behind them. In addition to discussing the cyber threats, he addressed several key issues, including the outcomes of the university guidance process, the training of personnel to advance the mechanical industry, and the promotion of English language proficiency within universities.
