Establishment of YouCode Errachidia
In a significant move towards enhancing digital education, Morocco has formalized a partnership agreement to establish YouCode Errachidia, a specialized institution dedicated to programming and information cryptography. This landmark agreement was signed on the fourth day of the inaugural Rally IA Future Lab, held in Merzouga, where the focus was on harnessing artificial intelligence and fostering digital innovation.
This initiative is a critical component of Morocco’s overarching strategy to elevate digital competencies, broaden access to training in burgeoning professions, and achieve the objectives outlined in the Digital Morocco 2030 initiative. As stated by the Ministry of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform, this collaboration involves multiple stakeholders, including the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the Governorate of the Draa-Tafilalet region, the Regional Council of Draa-Tafilalet, and the Leet Initiative.
Aiming to Empower the Youth
The primary objective of this partnership is to create, equip, and manage a training institution that specializes in programming and information cryptography, specifically targeting the youth of the region. This includes school dropouts who possess talent and aptitude in digital technologies. The ministry emphasized that the agreement is designed to benefit the region's youth, particularly those who have dropped out of school but still exhibit skills in the digital domain.
YouCode Errachidia will offer a comprehensive two-year training program aimed at accommodating around 50 trainees per cohort, which means the school is expected to train approximately 100 students annually across its first and second-year levels. This initiative is not just a training program; it is a strategic effort to enhance the employability of young people in modern technology professions while supplying the information technology sector with a skilled workforce capable of meeting the demands of the labor market.
The establishment of YouCode Errachidia reflects a collective commitment to advancing digital transformation within the Draa-Tafilalet region through an innovative educational model that emphasizes practical learning, skills development, and a closer alignment between training programs and the needs of the labor market. Moreover, this initiative draws on the momentum created by the Rally IA Future Lab, which serves as a national platform for anticipating the future of artificial intelligence and digital innovation.
Ultimately, this project aims to foster the emergence of a new generation of competencies that can effectively navigate the digital transformation landscape in Morocco, ensuring that the nation remains competitive in the global digital economy.
