Morocco Selected for USDA Food for Progress Initiative

The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) has recognized Morocco as one of seven countries selected to receive a significant Food for Progress award, which spans a duration of five years. This initiative is part of a broader effort to enhance agricultural practices and food safety standards in participating nations, and Morocco stands to benefit immensely from this partnership.

With the award amounting to an impressive $33.1 million, the project aims to bolster Morocco's food safety protocols and livestock sectors. The funding is facilitated through the sale of 33,000 metric tons of U.S.-grown soybean meal and wheat. The implementation of this project will be carried out by Counterpart International, a recognized organization dedicated to fostering global development. Approximately 5,000 individuals in Morocco are expected to benefit directly from the improved agricultural systems and enhanced food security measures that this initiative promises.

As we celebrate a remarkable milestone of 250 years of friendship between the United States and Morocco, this award not only signifies a financial investment but also underscores a commitment to strengthening economic partnerships. The collaborative efforts are poised to lead to sustainable growth and improved livelihoods for Moroccan citizens, paving the way for a prosperous future together.
