The Moroccan Ministry of Health announced on Thursday that the country has recorded 600 new cases of COVID-19, along with 520 recoveries and 7 deaths within the past 24 hours. This brings the total number of individuals who have received the first dose of the vaccine to 4,707,658.
In its daily epidemiological report on COVID-19, the ministry highlighted that 4,207,298 individuals have now received the second dose of the vaccine. The new figures for infections have pushed the overall count of confirmed cases in Morocco to 507,938 since the first case was reported on March 2, 2020. Meanwhile, the total number of complete recoveries has reached 493,873, leading to a recovery rate of 97.2%. The death toll has also risen to 8,976, resulting in a fatality rate of 1.8%.
The reported cases in the last 24 hours are distributed across various regions of the country, with Casablanca-Settat accounting for the highest number at 421 cases, followed by Rabat-Salé-Kénitra with 51, Marrakech-Safi with 26, and others including the East (20), Souss-Massa (19), and several other regions with fewer cases. Deaths have been recorded as 4 in Casablanca-Settat, and 1 each in Marrakech-Safi, Souss-Massa, and Fès-Meknès.
According to the report, the cumulative incidence rate in Morocco is now 1,396.6 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, with an incidence rate of 1.6 per 100,000 over the past 24 hours. Active cases currently receiving treatment number 5,089.
Additionally, the number of new severe or critical cases in intensive care units recorded during the last 24 hours is 50, bringing the total to 381 cases, with 14 under invasive mechanical ventilation and 207 under non-invasive ventilation. The occupancy rate for intensive care beds designated for COVID-19 patients stands at 12.1%.
