Morocco Sees 7,874 New Companies Established in January, Casablanca-Settat Leads with Nearly 40%

In January 2026, Morocco witnessed the establishment of a remarkable 7,874 new companies, as reported by the Moroccan Office of Industrial and Commercial Property (OMPIC). This significant figure reflects a vibrant entrepreneurial climate in the country, particularly in the Casablanca-Settat region, which accounted for an impressive 39.6% of all new business registrations.

The data highlights that out of the total new companies, 5,827 were legal entities (representing 74%), while 2,047 were individual entrepreneurs (26%). Among the various legal forms, the Single Member Limited Liability Company (SARL AU) emerged as the most popular choice, constituting 66.7% of the registrations for legal entities. Following closely was the Limited Liability Company (SARL) at 32.4%. This trend indicates a strong preference for limited liability structures among new entrepreneurs in Morocco.

Geographically, the Casablanca-Settat region's dominance in new company formations is noteworthy, as it outperformed other regions, such as Rabat-Salé-Kénitra at 13.8%, Marrakech-Safi at 12.5%, and Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima at 11.1%. Collectively, these four regions accounted for a striking 77% of all new business registrations in the country, underscoring the concentration of entrepreneurial activity in these areas.

Examining the sectors of activity, commerce took the lead, representing 27.48% of the new legal entities established, followed by construction and real estate activities at 25.56%. Other notable sectors included various services (19.14%), transport (8.16%), and industry (6.75%). This distribution reflects the diverse entrepreneurial landscape in Morocco, with commerce being a significant driver of new business ventures.

Regarding individual businesses, the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region led with 23% of individual entrepreneur registrations, followed by Casablanca-Settat at 12.5%, the Oriental region at 11.5%, Rabat-Salé-Kénitra at 9.3%, and Fez-Meknes at 9.2%. Additionally, a total of 12,136 commercial names were registered during the same month, indicating a robust interest in establishing new brands.
