In a remarkable surge of entrepreneurial activity, Morocco has registered a total of 51,805 new businesses in the first six months of 2026. A closer examination of the types of business entities reveals that the Société à Responsabilité Limitée à Associé Unique (SARL AU) has emerged as the most favored option among new business owners, representing 65.2% of all legal registrations. Following closely are the traditional Société à Responsabilité Limitée (SARL) entities, which account for 33.7% of the new businesses. Geographically, entrepreneurial activity is heavily concentrated in Morocco's key economic regions. The Casablanca-Settat region leads with a significant 39.3% of the new company registrations, followed by Rabat-Salé-Kénitra with 14.5%, Marrakech-Safi with 12.5%, and Tanger-Tétouan-Al Hoceima at 10.6%. Together, these four regions comprise an impressive 76.9% of all new company registrations across the nation.
Sector-wise analysis indicates a dominant trend towards commerce, which captures 27.2% of the new registrations. The construction and real estate sectors are also notable, with 25.4% of new businesses emerging in these areas, followed by diverse services at 20%, transport at 7.5%, and industry at 6.3%. When it comes to individual entrepreneurs, the regional preferences shift somewhat. The Tanger-Tétouan-Al Hoceima region takes the lead with 20.8% of individual business registrations, followed by Casablanca-Settat at 13.3% and the Oriental region with 10.8%.
