Agadir – Morocco has proudly participated as the guest of honor in the fifth edition of Ecuador’s International Cooperation Fair, Territorial Edition, which took place on September 10 and 11 in Ibarra, Ecuador. This significant event was reported by the Moroccan Agency for International Cooperation (AMCI), highlighting Morocco’s ongoing commitment to fostering international partnerships and cooperation.
The Moroccan delegation was composed of notable representatives, including officials from AMCI, the Moroccan Embassy in Ecuador, and experts from the Artificial Intelligence Research Center at Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P). This diverse group engaged with various stakeholders at the fair, which was organized by Ecuador’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Human Mobility, in collaboration with the Municipality of Ibarra and the Provincial Government of Imbabura.
During the fair, AMCI showcased Morocco’s approach to South-South cooperation, emphasizing the importance of innovation, technology, and the vital exchange of expertise in addressing emerging development challenges faced by partner countries. Morocco’s role as the guest of honor underscored the strong ties between the North African nation and Ecuador, reflecting Rabat’s unwavering commitment to enhancing South-South partnerships founded on principles of solidarity, knowledge sharing, and mutual benefit.
In addition to participating in discussions, AMCI set up a dedicated stand at the fair, where they presented the agency's missions, areas of intervention, and extensive experience in international cooperation, particularly highlighting their collaborative efforts with Latin American nations. Engaging in discussions alongside representatives from various countries and cooperation organizations, AMCI officials and the Director of the Artificial Intelligence Research Center at UM6P contributed to panels that addressed pivotal topics such as South-South and triangular cooperation, innovative partnership mechanisms, solidarity initiatives, and enhancing territorial resilience.
The discussions held at the fair are integral to the broader agenda of strengthening the “International Cooperation Ecosystem 2.0,” aimed at fostering more coordinated and effective collaborative efforts across nations. Morocco’s participation in Ecuador is particularly timely, as AMCI actively works to develop triangular cooperation partnerships with both European and African institutions.
Notably, just prior to the fair, AMCI and Belgium’s Agency for International Cooperation, Enabel, signed a Memorandum of Understanding in Brussels on September 9, aimed at deepening their partnership and initiating new triangular cooperation projects throughout Africa. Such initiatives exemplify AMCI’s commitment to utilizing international platforms to exhibit Morocco’s proficient experience in capacity building, knowledge sharing, skills development, and the execution of development projects that benefit partner countries.
