Morocco Signs Agreement to Join International Stabilization Force in Gaza

Morocco's Commitment to Peace in the Middle East

On Wednesday, Morocco officially signed an agreement to participate in the International Stabilization Force (ISF) in Gaza, as announced by the National Defense Administration. This significant step follows the directives of the King, who serves as the Supreme Commander and Chief of Staff of the Royal Armed Forces (FAR), as well as the President of the Al Quds Committee. The agreement was signed by Nasser Bourita, Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccans Abroad, alongside Abdeltif Loudyi, Minister Delegate to the Head of Government in charge of National Defense Administration. The signing ceremony took place in the presence of high-ranking military officials, including the Inspector General of the FAR and the Commander of the Royal Gendarmerie, as well as Nickolay Mladenov, the High Representative of the Peace Council for Gaza, who led a high-level delegation from the council.

Strengthening International Cooperation

This visit and subsequent agreement underscore Morocco's commitment to its founding member role in the Peace Council, adhering to the royal directives stated during the inaugural meeting held in Washington under the presidency of former U.S. President Donald Trump. The Moroccan delegation highlighted that their participation in the ISF reflects the Kingdom's deep commitment to the values of peace, cooperation, and international solidarity. They emphasized that this involvement would significantly contribute to establishing peace and security in the Middle East region.

Furthermore, the Moroccan representatives showcased the extensive experience the country has amassed in peacekeeping operations under the auspices of the United Nations. They reiterated Morocco's steadfast dedication to promoting regional and international stability through various royal initiatives aimed at fostering regional integration, security, and social progress.

In response, the senior officials from the Peace Council for Gaza and the ISF commander expressed their appreciation for Morocco's engagement in this peace initiative. They acknowledged the Kingdom's contribution through the deployment of high-ranking FAR officers to the ISF Joint Command, as well as personnel from the Royal Gendarmerie and the National Police. Additionally, Morocco's commitment includes the establishment of a military field hospital to support humanitarian efforts in the region.

The meeting concluded with the formal signing of the agreement, which provides the legal framework for Morocco's participation in the ISF, covering technical and operational aspects. This agreement signifies a mutual desire to engage in tangible humanitarian and security actions to foster a climate of peace and security in the region.
