Morocco Signs €500 Million Partnership Framework with OPEC Fund

Strengthening Economic Ties: Morocco and OPEC Fund Collaboration

On April 14, 2026, in Washington D.C., Moroccan Minister of Economy and Finance, Nadia Fettah, held discussions with Abdulhamid Al Khalifa, the President of the OPEC Fund for International Development, during the Spring Meetings of the World Bank Group and the International Monetary Fund. This meeting was pivotal as it underscored the resilience of the Moroccan economy amidst escalating global instability, particularly highlighting the positive outcomes of the country's agricultural campaign. Minister Fettah elaborated on the government's strategic measures to mitigate recent shocks, especially those stemming from tensions in the Middle East.

Both parties expressed satisfaction with the strength and quality of their existing partnership and explored avenues for further enhancement, aligning with Morocco's development priorities. The culmination of this meeting was the signing of a Country Partnership Framework between the Moroccan government and the OPEC Fund for International Development. This framework, which allocates approximately €500 million for the period from 2026 to 2028, aims to support sustainable growth, bolster resilience, and develop human capital in Morocco.

The President of the OPEC Fund celebrated this partnership framework's signing and reiterated the institution's commitment to assisting Morocco in realizing its priority projects, particularly in strategic sectors. This initiative is a testament to the ongoing fruitful cooperation between the Kingdom of Morocco and the OPEC Fund, aimed at fostering the country's economic and social development.
