Facilitating Voluntary Return

In a significant move to assist migrants who entered Ceuta in July, Morocco has implemented measures to facilitate their voluntary return. Spanish police sources indicate ongoing collaboration with Moroccan authorities to simplify the return process. Over 1,200 individuals have already opted for repatriation during the evacuation of the El Trampolín camp, with many others following suit as recently as Tuesday. These migrants have chosen to return to Morocco rather than being transferred to a temporary foreign nationals' reception center, where they would face administrative identification procedures.

To aid in this process, Morocco has organized transportation services for some of the returnees, providing buses from Fnideq to their respective hometowns, as confirmed by the same sources. During a meeting in New York on September 24, Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita reiterated to his Spanish counterpart, José Manuel Albares, Morocco's full cooperation in facilitating the return of migrants currently in Ceuta. This initiative reflects Morocco's commitment to addressing migration-related challenges in a humane and organized manner, ensuring that individuals have the opportunity to return to their home country safely and efficiently.
