Launch of Agadir's Regional Explosives Unit
In a significant move to bolster national security measures, Morocco's General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) has inaugurated a Regional Explosives Unit in Agadir. This newly established unit, known as the "Brigade Régionale des Artificiers," aims to enhance the country's preparedness and specialized response to incidents involving explosives. This training is conducted in two phases: the first focuses on the fundamental principles of explosives handling, while the second emphasizes the operational use of explosives-handling equipment in various scenarios, including the neutralization of explosive devices.
The Agadir unit is well-equipped with essential technical and logistical resources, featuring a specially designed vehicle for the transport and storage of explosives-handling equipment. Additionally, the unit has access to a light vehicle for the movement of personnel and daily operations, alongside IT and logistical tools to support both administrative and operational functions. The DGSN has expressed that the creation of this unit exemplifies its commitment to enhancing specialized security services and building professional structures capable of addressing the unique challenges posed by explosives. This initiative is also indicative of the DGSN's broader objective to progressively expand specialized security units across the nation, thereby improving intervention capabilities and delivering targeted security services.
