Morocco Set to Host 2030 World Cup Final in Casablanca
Fouzi Lekjaa, the President of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF), has made a bold announcement stating that the final match of the 2030 FIFA World Cup will take place at the Grand Stadium Hassan II in Casablanca, which is currently under construction. This declaration was made during an electoral campaign event for the Authenticity and Modernity Party (PAM) in Buznika, a suburb of Rabat. Lekjaa, a prominent figure in Moroccan football and a current minister, emphasized the honor bestowed upon the province of Benslimane, where the stadium is located, to host such a prestigious event. "The province will have the honor of organizing the World Cup final; any future government must focus on developing this region," he stated, amidst applause from attendees.
Excitement Surrounds 2030 World Cup Plans
The 2030 World Cup will be jointly organized by Spain, Portugal, and Morocco, while Uruguay, Argentina, and Paraguay will host the inaugural matches to celebrate the centenary of the World Cup, which was first held in Montevideo in 1930. Although FIFA has yet to officially reveal the venues for each participating country, Lekjaa expressed his hope for the final match to feature Morocco facing France, referring to the teams' recent encounter in the quarter-finals of the 2026 World Cup, which ended in a 2-0 victory for France.
The anticipated Grand Stadium Hassan II is set to be one of the largest stadiums in the world, with a capacity of 115,000 seats, rivaling the renowned Santiago Bernabéu Stadium in Madrid. The stadium's inauguration is scheduled for the end of 2027, further enhancing Morocco's football infrastructure and global standing in the sport.
