Introducing the Nexus AI Factory: A New Era for Morocco's Tech Landscape
In a significant leap towards becoming a continental powerhouse in artificial intelligence (AI) and advanced technologies, Morocco has officially launched the Nexus AI Factory. This groundbreaking initiative was unveiled during the GITEX Africa 2026 event and aims to lay the groundwork for a robust, innovative, and sustainable digital ecosystem that aligns perfectly with the country's ambitious "Digital Morocco 2030" vision. The Nexus AI Factory is the brainchild of Nexus Core Systems, in collaboration with key governmental bodies such as the Ministère de la Transition Numérique et de la Réforme de l’Administration, the MICEPP, and the AMDIE. This partnership underscores the commitment to developing a technology ecosystem that not only enhances local capabilities but also attracts international investment and expertise.
Investment and Infrastructure: A Commitment to Sustainability
The ambitious project involves a total investment of 12 billion dirhams, set to be rolled out in two distinct phases starting from 2027. The initial phase, taking place in Nouaceur, is allocated a budget of 5 billion dirhams and is designed to support a 16 MW infrastructure, creating around 50 highly skilled jobs in the region. The subsequent phase, earmarked for northern Morocco, will see an investment of 7 billion dirhams, expanding the infrastructure capacity by more than 20 MW and increasing total employment opportunities to 125 jobs.
A notable aspect of the Nexus AI Factory is its commitment to sustainability. The facility is designed to operate entirely on renewable energy, thanks to a strategic partnership with TAQA Morocco, positioning it as a pioneering model for “Green AI” development in the region.
