Statements from Football Leaders: A Clash of Claims

Fawzi Lekjaa, the President of the Moroccan Football Federation, boldly claimed that Morocco has already secured the rights to host the World Cup final, stating in a political gathering, "The city of Benslimane will host the World Cup final, whether people like it or not. Anyone who wishes to comment can do so." He further emphasized that the match would be held at the Hassan II Stadium and expressed hopes that the Moroccan national team would participate in this prestigious event.

In contrast, Rafael Lozano, the President of the Spanish Football Federation, asserted that Spain rightfully deserves to host the final match, acknowledging, however, that this privilege has not yet been officially confirmed. Lozano stated, "We all signed to accept the bid, and it is unfortunate that the location for the final match has not been clearly established yet." He added that given Spain's status as world champions in both men's and women's football, it is only fitting for the country to host the World Cup final.

European football officials argue that the monumental event in 2030, spanning multiple countries including Portugal and parts of South America, should be regarded as a European event, and thus the final match should take place on the continent. In response to inquiries from the Associated Press, FIFA indicated that a decision regarding the final's location would be made "in due time." Currently, the construction of the King Hassan II Stadium is underway in the Benslimane region on the outskirts of Casablanca, set to accommodate 115,000 spectators, while Spain could propose either Real Madrid or Barcelona's stadiums to host the upcoming final.
