Significant Increase in Rainfall Promises Agricultural Excellence
The Moroccan agricultural landscape is set to experience a significant revival, as Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, Rural Development, and Water and Forests, Ahmed El Bouari, announced that the country is expected to receive approximately 462 millimeters of rainfall between September 1, 2025, and March 11, 2026. This forecast marks an impressive 56% increase compared to the average rainfall recorded over the past thirty years and a remarkable 134% rise in comparison to the previous year. This surge in precipitation is anticipated to have a positive impact on the agricultural sector, fostering a return to the levels of added value seen at the conclusion of the Green Morocco Plan.
During a recent government council meeting, El Bouari elaborated on how these rains will benefit the majority of agricultural zones, particularly in regions such as the North, Saïss, Gharb, Chaouia, and Doukkala, where substantial rainfall is expected. He noted that current agricultural indicators suggest a promising agricultural season ahead, paving the way for a resurgence of agricultural excellence in Morocco. This optimistic outlook was further supported by Mustapha Baitas, the government spokesperson, who highlighted the positive trends observed during a press conference following the council meeting.
