Morocco's Airports Welcome 8.9 Million Passengers by March, Marking a 11.15% Increase According to ONDA

Significant Growth in Passenger Traffic at Moroccan Airports

The National Airports Office (ONDA) has reported that Moroccan airports have seen a remarkable increase in passenger traffic, with a total of 8,913,041 travelers recorded by the end of March 2026. This figure represents an impressive growth of 11.15% compared to the same period in the previous year. Notably, Mohammed V Airport, which accounts for over 30% of the total traffic, welcomed 2,730,209 passengers, reflecting a substantial increase of 15.92% compared to March 2025.

Other airports across the nation have also experienced significant growth. Airports such as Béni-Mellal, Errachidia, Nador El Aroui, Rabat Salé, Tanger Ibn Batouta, Marrakech-Menara, and Agadir Al Massira recorded remarkable increases, with Béni-Mellal leading the charge at a growth rate of 31.35%. The ONDA highlights that the majority of these airports have shown impressive growth rates, particularly driven by international traffic.

Dominance of International Traffic and Geographic Trends

The breakdown of passenger traffic indicates a clear dominance of international flights. According to ONDA, international flights accounted for 8,022,866 passengers, marking a growth of 10.91%, while domestic flights saw 890,175 passengers, an increase of 13.34%. This upward trend is consistent across all geographical routes, with Europe representing more than 80% of the total international traffic and witnessing a growth of 9.82%. Other regions, including Africa, the Middle East, North America, the Maghreb, and South America, showed respective increases of 20.96%, 9.45%, 25.9%, 14.12%, and 37.69%.

In terms of airport movements, ONDA reported a total of 67,263 flights arriving and departing from Moroccan airports by the end of March 2026, which is an increase of 11.24% compared to the previous year. Additionally, freight traffic has also seen a boost, climbing by 13.33% to over 29,846 tons, compared to 26,335 tons during the same period in 2025. This surge in both passenger and freight traffic underscores the robust recovery and growth of Morocco’s aviation sector.
