Significant Increase in Passenger Traffic Across Moroccan Airports

The National Airport Office (Office National Des Aéroports, ONDA) has reported a remarkable growth in passenger traffic for Moroccan airports during the first seven months of 2026, with a total of 22,282,997 passengers processed. This figure represents an increase of 8.77% compared to the same period last year. According to the announcement made on August 28, 2026, the month of July alone saw an impressive count of 3,450,846 travelers. The breakdown of this passenger traffic reveals that international travelers accounted for 19,894,489, marking an increase of 8.82%, while domestic flights catered to 2,388,508 passengers, reflecting an 8.36% growth.

Leading Airports and Market Trends

In terms of airport rankings, Mohammed V Airport in Casablanca emerged as the busiest hub in the country, accommodating 6,953,695 passengers and conducting 55,223 flight movements. Following closely were Marrakech-Menara Airport with 6,407,303 passengers (42,028 flight movements) and Agadir-Al Massira Airport, which handled 2,179,857 passengers (15,009 flight movements). Additionally, Tangier Ibn Batouta and Rabat-Salé airports recorded 1,711,764 and 1,446,355 passengers, respectively.

Europe continues to be the dominant source market, contributing 16,541,007 passengers, which is a notable increase of 9.29% compared to the previous year. The most significant percentage growth was seen in flights to South America, which surged by 34.21% to reach 62,880 passengers. Passenger traffic from North America also rose by 14.54%, totaling 581,297, while African routes experienced a 13.74% increase with 1,175,674 travelers. Conversely, there was a decline in air traffic from the Middle and Far East, which dropped by 4.12% to 1,238,443 passengers. Overall, Moroccan airports recorded 164,164 flight movements nationwide by the end of July, an increase of 9.82%. Furthermore, the volume of air freight rose by 12.61% during the same period, amounting to 66,980.55 tons.
