Strengthening Peace Efforts in the Middle East
The recent visit of Nickolay Mladenov to Morocco is a significant step in reinforcing the commitments of the Kingdom of Morocco as a founding member of the Peace Council. This initiative aligns with the High Royal Directives announced during the inaugural meeting of the Peace Council held in Washington, which was presided over by His Excellency Mr. Donald Trump, President of the United States. During this visit, an important agreement was signed regarding Morocco's participation in the International Stabilization Force (ISF) in Gaza, as highlighted in a statement from the National Defense Administration.
In this meeting, Moroccan representatives emphasized that the Kingdom's involvement in the ISF is a testament to its deep-rooted commitment to the values of peace, cooperation, and international solidarity. They asserted that this participation will significantly contribute to achieving and establishing peace and security in the Middle Eastern region. Furthermore, the Moroccan delegation underscored the extensive experience the Kingdom has amassed in peacekeeping operations under the auspices of the United Nations, as well as its unwavering commitment to regional and international efforts aimed at promoting peace and stability. This commitment is evident through the Royal initiatives launched by His Majesty the King, particularly the regional integration projects that influence security and social progress.
Collaboration for a Secure Future
On their part, senior officials from the Peace Council for Gaza and the Commander of the ISF warmly welcomed Morocco's adherence to this peace initiative. They acknowledged the Kingdom’s contribution, which includes the deployment of high-ranking officers from the Royal Armed Forces to the Joint Command of the ISF, as well as personnel from the Royal Gendarmerie and the National Security Directorate. Additionally, Morocco is set to establish a military field hospital to aid in humanitarian efforts.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both parties proceeded to sign the agreement concerning Morocco's participation in the International Stabilization Force in Gaza. This agreement establishes the legal framework covering the technical and operational aspects of Morocco's involvement and reflects the shared desire to contribute through concrete humanitarian and security actions towards the establishment of a climate of peace and stability in the region.
