Morocco's Coordinated Arrests: 11 Individuals Detained Under International Warrants

Significant Law Enforcement Actions in Morocco

In a major operation executed on Monday, Moroccan authorities apprehended eleven individuals in the cities of Marrakech and Tangier based on both national and international arrest warrants. The detainees are alleged to be involved in various criminal activities, particularly money laundering and drug trafficking. Among those arrested, ten hold dual nationality, including Franco-Moroccans, Belgo-Moroccans, and Dutch-Moroccans, while one is identified as a French national.

Details of the Arrests and Implications

Among the apprehended individuals, six Moroccan nationals residing in France are wanted for their suspected involvement in money laundering schemes, their affiliations with criminal organizations linked to drug trafficking, and other fraud-related offenses. Additionally, three Belgo-Moroccan suspects are pursued by Belgium for international drug trafficking activities, while one Dutch-Moroccan is suspected of being involved in both international drug trafficking and money laundering operations. The French national was specifically sought by the National Judicial Police Brigade (BNPJ) for money laundering allegations.

The police raids resulted in the seizure of luxury watches, high-end personal effects, vehicles, motorcycles, substantial amounts of both Moroccan and foreign currency, bank cards, mobile phones, quantities of cocaine, and various passports and identity documents belonging to the suspects. Following their detainment, the individuals were placed in custody as investigations continue. Authorities are currently reviewing the offenses cited in the foreign judicial requests and the complaints that led to the issuance of the arrest warrants.
