Morocco's Cucumber Exports to Germany Reach New Heights

Record-Breaking Cucumber Exports from Morocco to Germany

Morocco's cucumber exports to Germany are experiencing unprecedented growth, with the 2025/2026 season already outpacing the impressive figures of the previous season, as reported by EastFruit. Between July 2025 and March 2026, Germany imported an astonishing 3,900 tons of Moroccan cucumbers, generating revenues exceeding €8 million. This remarkable achievement illustrates a significant 10% increase compared to the last season, and a staggering 28-fold surge compared to the 2021/2022 season. The rising demand for Moroccan cucumbers indicates a robust market presence, especially during the peak months from November to February, with December 2025 marking the highest import month, with nearly 1,000 tons imported.

While Spain and the Netherlands continue to dominate Germany's cucumber supply, collectively accounting for over 80% of the imports, Morocco's market share is gradually on the rise. The North African nation increased its share from a mere 0.5% in the previous season to 0.8% during the first nine months of the current season. It is important to note that the actual export volumes are likely higher, as Spain often procures Moroccan cucumbers and subsequently re-exports them to various European countries, including Germany. This strategic shift toward direct shipments from Morocco signifies a transformative change in the country's export strategy, as exporters aim to circumvent traditional European distribution channels, thereby solidifying their direct footprint in the lucrative Northern European markets.
