Morocco's Delegate Headed to the 62nd Session of the Human Rights Council in Geneva

Morocco's Representation at the UN Human Rights Council

Ministerial Delegate for Human Rights, Mohamed Habib Belkouch, will lead Morocco's delegation at the 62nd session of the UN Human Rights Council scheduled to take place from June 22 to June 26, 2026, in Geneva. This session marks a significant moment for Morocco as it continues to engage constructively on the international stage regarding human rights issues.

Highlighting Human Rights and Anti-Corruption Efforts

One of the key events during Morocco's participation will be a parallel seminar organized in collaboration with the National Authority for Integrity, Prevention and the Fight Against Corruption. This independent constitutional body will co-host the seminar, which will see the presence of both Belkouch and Mohamed Benalilou, the head of the National Authority. The seminar will focus on the theme, "Protecting Human Rights through Corruption Prevention," and aims to foster dialogue and exchange of best practices in the realms of human rights and anti-corruption. Notable international experts, including the Dean of the International Anti-Corruption Academy in Vienna, are expected to contribute to this significant discussion.

This international seminar presents an invaluable opportunity for Morocco to share its experiences and practices while strengthening the synergy between global human rights frameworks and anti-corruption efforts. It will also emphasize the importance of collaboration among national institutions involved in human rights mechanisms, anti-corruption measures, and the monitoring of international commitments.

On the sidelines of this session, Ministerial Delegate Belkouch is anticipated to hold numerous bilateral meetings with UN officials and international personalities. These discussions will revolve around pivotal issues aimed at advancing the human rights agenda. Additionally, Belkouch will present summaries from an international workshop hosted by Morocco on June 5 and 6, 2026, which focused on evaluating the Universal Periodic Review and its prospects. Furthermore, Morocco's delegation will participate in a discussion scheduled for June 23, 2026, providing insights from the 11th session of the Human Rights Dialogue, organized in partnership to examine the topic: "Beijing After 30 Years: Mobilizing the UN Human Rights System for Gender Equality and the Full Enjoyment of Rights for Women and Girls."
