Morocco's Education Minister Inspects Baccalaureate Exams at Rabat High School

Minister's Visit Highlights Commitment to Educational Integrity

In a significant move that underscores the Moroccan government's dedication to education, Mohamed Saad Berrada, the Minister of National Education, Preschool, and Sports, visited Dar Essalam High School in Rabat on June 4, 2026, coinciding with the commencement of the national baccalaureate examinations. This annual event sees an impressive turnout of over 79,000 students from the Rabat-Salé-Kenitra region, which includes approximately 14,000 independent candidates. The minister's presence at the examination center provided a valuable opportunity to observe firsthand the procedures in place on the initial day of testing.

This year’s baccalaureate session is marked by enhanced measures aimed at ensuring the credibility and reliability of the diploma. These initiatives include the ongoing digitalization of examination processes and the implementation of equitable practices designed to provide all candidates, regardless of their background, with a fair chance to succeed. The regional education director, Mohamed Aouaj, confirmed that the examinations were progressing smoothly across the 292 centers established in the region, which host a total of 4,400 examination rooms and are supervised by over 21,000 teachers.

Notably, this year's examinations also cater to candidates with disabilities, as well as individuals taking exams from within prisons and hospitals. To combat cheating, the authorities have stepped up efforts, employing a combination of awareness campaigns and stringent monitoring measures. The baccalaureate exams are scheduled to run from June 4 to June 6, with results announced on June 17. For those requiring a retake, the session is set for July 2-4, with results released on July 11. The overall candidate pool this year totals 528,135, consisting of 426,637 enrolled students and 101,498 independent candidates, with private school students making up 11% of the total.
