FUS Rabat Denies Negotiations with Al Ahly for Sofiane Benjdida
Recent reports from Moroccan media have shed light on the current situation regarding Sofiane Benjdida, a forward for FUS Rabat, amid speculation about a potential transfer to the Egyptian club Al Ahly during the ongoing summer transfer window. In recent days, Benjdida’s name has been frequently mentioned in connection with a move to the Red Castle, aimed at bolstering their attacking line-up, as per the request of the new head coach, Hussein Amouta.
According to the news outlet snrtnews, citing an official source within FUS Rabat, the club has firmly denied any official negotiations with Al Ahly regarding the acquisition of the player. The source emphasized that Benjdida has not received any formal offers for his transfer, adding that he remains under contract until June 2030 and is content at FUS Rabat.
Moreover, the source stated that Benjdida is preparing for the upcoming CAF Champions League season and is committed to helping his team maintain their title in the Moroccan league. The club management is keen on retaining the core squad of the team and is open to the idea of players pursuing opportunities abroad, especially if suitable European offers arise. However, they will not part ways with any player without ensuring that the club’s rights are respected.
It was also revealed that there is a significant buyout clause in Benjdida’s contract, meaning that any club interested in signing him without entering negotiations with FUS Rabat would be obligated to pay the full amount of this clause.
