Morocco's Olive Oil Exports to Spain Surge Dramatically in Early 2026

Significant Growth in Olive Oil Exports

Morocco has experienced a remarkable increase in olive oil exports to Spain during the first four months of 2026, significantly outpacing figures from the same period in the previous year. According to data released by the Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Business, olive oil shipments reached an impressive 10,384.7 tons, a stark contrast to a mere 103 tons recorded between January and April of 2025. This exponential growth in export volume reflects Morocco's burgeoning capacity to supply high-quality olive oil to international markets.

Factors Behind the Surge

In terms of monetary value, the revenue generated from these exports skyrocketed from €340,000 in 2025 to an astounding €32.76 million by April of this year. This surge can be attributed to two key factors. Firstly, Morocco's olive oil production for the 2025/2026 campaign is anticipated to reach approximately 200,000 tons, more than double the output from the previous season. Secondly, the competitive pricing of Moroccan olive oil has made it an attractive option for European buyers, further stimulating demand. This combination of higher production and lower prices has positioned Morocco as a significant player in the olive oil export market, particularly to Spain, which is one of the largest consumers of olive oil globally.
