Morocco's Legal Actions Against Ali Lmrabet
The public prosecutor at the correctional court in Casablanca has officially disclosed the reasons for the arrest of journalist Ali Lmrabet, who was apprehended at Tangier Airport. This action was executed based on several previous search warrants issued against him. Lmrabet is suspected of committing acts that violate the law, particularly following the release of a series of digital contents that have been deemed criminal. According to the prosecutor, these materials allegedly include defamatory statements targeting various individuals and institutions, as well as legally established entities.
In a statement, the prosecutor indicated that, following the directives from the public prosecutor's office, Lmrabet was transferred to the headquarters of the National Judicial Police Brigade (BNPJ) in Casablanca. He has since been placed in custody to facilitate ongoing investigations, all while ensuring that the procedural guarantees provided by law and the presumption of innocence are upheld.
The prosecutor's office further clarified that once the investigations are complete, Ali Lmrabet will be presented to the prosecutor for appropriate legal measures to be taken based on the findings of the inquiry.
