Moroccan Stock Market Overview

On Tuesday, Morocco's stock market experienced a downturn, closing lower as a result of significant losses in critical sectors including Utilities, Banking, and Mining. The Moroccan All Shares Index, a broad measure of the market, slipped by 1.00%, reaching a new one-month low as trading concluded in Casablanca. This decline reflects ongoing pressures faced by various sectors within the economy, raising concerns among investors about the overall market stability.

Key Performers and Market Trends

Despite the overall decline, certain stocks managed to shine during the trading session. Wafa Assurance (CSE:WAA) stood out as the top performer, climbing 5.36% or 300.00 points to close at an impressive 5,900.00, marking an all-time high for the company. Other notable gainers included Fenie Brossette (CSE:FBR), which rose by 4.75% or 14.00 points to finish at 308.50, and S2M (CSE:S2M), which saw a 4.46% increase, adding 25.00 points to reach 586.00. However, the market was not without its losers. SMI (CSE:SMI) experienced the largest drop, falling 9.99% or 984.00 points to close at 8,865.00. Additionally, Miniere Touissit (CSE:CMT) declined by 9.56%, while Ste de Travaux de Realisation d’Ouvrages et de Constuction Industielle SA (CSE:STR) saw a decrease of 6.54%.

In total, the Casablanca Stock Exchange recorded 37 declining stocks against 17 advancing ones, with five remaining unchanged. The market's mixed performance highlights the volatility and uncertainty currently affecting Moroccan equities.

In related market activity, crude oil prices also faced downward pressure, with July delivery contracts falling by 1.12% to $103.21 per barrel. Brent oil for the same month decreased by 1.51%, reaching $110.41 per barrel. Meanwhile, the June Gold Futures contract saw a decline of 1.24%, trading at $4,501.57 per troy ounce. Currency exchanges reflected minor fluctuations as well, with the EUR/MAD increasing by 0.10% to 10.72 and the USD/MAD rising by 0.49% to 9.24. The US Dollar Index Futures also noted a slight gain of 0.23% to settle at 99.33.
