Morocco Strengthens Digital Ecosystem through Collaboration with Vertiv
As Morocco continues to advance its initiatives in artificial intelligence and data center development, the nation is fortifying its digital infrastructure ecosystem by collaborating with esteemed international partners. On July 27, 2026, in Rabat, the Moroccan Ministry of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Vertiv, an American company specializing in critical digital infrastructure. This significant agreement was formalized by Amal El Fallah Seghrouchni, the Minister Delegate in charge of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform, and Wojtek Piorko, the Managing Director of Vertiv Africa.
The MoU outlines a framework for exchanging expertise, conducting technical studies, identifying structural projects, and exploring tailored solutions to meet Morocco's specific needs in the realm of digital infrastructure, cloud computing, and artificial intelligence (AI). The partnership encompasses high-performance computing, data centers, and the essential electrical and cooling solutions required for their operation.
Furthermore, the agreement includes considerations for the development of a 50 MW sovereign data center in Rabat, aimed at bolstering national capabilities in sovereign cloud computing, hosting digital public services, AI, high-performance computing, and cybersecurity. Vertiv is set to contribute its technical expertise in data center infrastructure, electrical solutions, cooling technologies, and the necessary tools for developing intensive cloud infrastructures.
This strategic partnership aligns with Morocco's Digital Morocco 2030 strategy, the "AI Made in Morocco" roadmap, and the national roadmap for cloud development from 2025 to 2030. It comes at a time when Morocco is initiating multiple projects in data centers, cloud computing, and high-performance computing, all while fostering the adoption of AI and digitizing public services.
Since the beginning of the year, Morocco has also entered into agreements with various companies, including Nexus Core Systems, ALTEN, Capgemini, and Huawei, focusing on different aspects of digital technology and artificial intelligence. The collaboration with Vertiv emphasizes the infrastructure that supports these technologies, particularly in data centers, high-performance computing, and related electrical and cooling systems.
