Morocco's Strategic Water Management: A Focus on Sustainable Solutions

Highlighting Morocco's Strategic Water Management on World Water Day

In celebration of World Water Day, we turn our attention to Morocco's comprehensive and strategic approach to managing this vital resource. The nation has been actively engaged in building dams and implementing multifaceted policies aimed at enhancing water sustainability. These initiatives not only focus on improving the efficiency of water resources but also aim to bolster the country's resilience in facing environmental and economic challenges. The model showcased in the Loukos basin serves as a prime example of such efforts, reflecting Morocco's commitment to sustainable development and responsible water management.

Morocco's water management strategy is crucial in addressing the growing demands for water, particularly in light of climate change and increasing population pressures. The construction of hydraulic infrastructures, such as the new complex in Oulad Mbarek near Kénitra, exemplifies the government's proactive measures. With a budget of 24.6 million dirhams allocated for a 24-month project, this initiative will secure and improve access to potable water in the province, thereby supporting territorial development and meeting the rising water needs of its citizens.
