Morocco Women’s National Football Team Shines in AFCON Quarterfinals
In a thrilling display of skill and determination, Morocco’s women’s national football team has successfully advanced to the semifinals of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2026, held in Morocco, and has also secured a coveted spot in the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup. The team's remarkable journey continued with a hard-fought victory over South Africa, winning 2-1 in a quarterfinal match at Stade Moulay El Hassan in Rabat on Saturday evening.

South Africa, however, put up a fierce fight, with Thembi Kgatlana scoring in the 67th minute to keep the contest alive. Ultimately, Morocco maintained their composure, clinching the victory and propelling them into the semifinals.
Next up, the Atlas Lionesses will face the winner of the quarterfinal match between Cameroon and Nigeria, which is scheduled to take place at Stade Larbi Zaouli in Casablanca.
