Moukaodour International Airport in Essaouira has reported a remarkable increase of 11.97% in passenger numbers by the end of April 2026, compared to the same period last year, according to data from the National Airports Office. The airport welcomed a total of 97,881 travelers during the first four months of the current year, a significant rise from the 87,420 passengers recorded during the same timeframe the previous year.
In April alone, the number of passengers who passed through Moukaodour Airport reached 32,065, reflecting an impressive growth of 25.29% compared to 25,593 passengers in April 2025. The data on air traffic distribution at this airport shows a clear dominance of international flights, which accounted for 97,641 travelers, marking an increase of 14.41%. In contrast, domestic flights saw a dramatic decline, with only 240,000 passengers, representing a staggering drop of 88.43%.
Furthermore, the airport recorded a 16.31% rise in flight operations, totaling 756 movements by the end of April 2026, up from 650 flights during the same period last year. Nationally, the commercial air traffic across Moroccan airports reached 12,336,962 travelers by the end of April 2026, indicating a growth of 9.7% compared to the previous year.
