Mutual Recognition of Driving Licenses between Morocco and Portugal
In a significant diplomatic development, Morocco and Portugal have signed a strategic memorandum of understanding in Rabat to establish mutual recognition of driving licenses for citizens of both nations. This agreement is aimed at facilitating the integration and stability of the respective communities residing in each country. The discussions were held during high-level bilateral meetings that included a Moroccan delegation and Portugal's Minister of Infrastructure, Ports, Railways, Housing, and Urbanism, Bento Luis.
During these discussions, the Portuguese side praised Morocco's leadership in investment, particularly in sectors such as high-speed rail (TGV), ports, and new airports. Both countries explored promising economic and logistical prospects, with a focus on launching a direct maritime route connecting Tangier and Portimão in southern Portugal, as well as establishing a new air link between the capitals, Rabat and Lisbon. This initiative is expected to enhance connectivity and foster stronger ties between the two nations.
