Mycophyto's Strategic Expansion in Morocco
Mycophyto, a biotech company based in Grasse that specializes in the production of biostimulants for regenerative agriculture, recently announced the opening of its subsidiary in Morocco. In a press release dated April 16, the company stated that this significant milestone represents a new phase of development and underscores its commitment to becoming an integral part of African agricultural dynamics. This strategic move is attributed to Morocco's modernization of its agricultural sector, the Kingdom's dedication to innovation, and its position as a major hub providing access to Africa and beyond.
Justine Lipuma, the CEO and co-founder of Mycophyto, emphasized that the establishment of this subsidiary reflects the company's confidence in Morocco's agricultural potential and its pivotal role in the region. She expressed the desire to foster sustainable collaborations and assist local stakeholders in their transitions to modern agricultural practices. This initiative further strengthens the existing partnership with CDG Invest, the investment branch of the Caisse de dépôt et de gestion based in Rabat, which has already invested in Mycophyto's solutions within the territory.
Participation in the International Agricultural Show
Mycophyto also announced its participation for the third consecutive year in the International Agricultural Show in Morocco (SIAM), scheduled to take place from April 20 to 28 in Meknès. This year's theme is "Sustainability of Animal Production and Food Sovereignty." The event is expected to attract around 1,500 exhibitors from 70 countries and over a million visitors. Mycophyto highlighted that this exhibition will serve as an opportunity to engage with clients and institutional partners, meet potential new partners or distributors, and showcase its innovative solutions aimed at promoting more efficient and environmentally friendly agricultural practices.
In addition to its focus on Morocco, the company, founded in 2017 by Justine Lipuma and Christine Poncet, is also exploring international expansion opportunities in countries such as Spain, Belgium, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg. Mycophyto aims to address climate change and agricultural transition challenges through its mycorrhizal-based biostimulants, which can lead to significant reductions in water stress by up to 20%, decrease mineral fertilizer use by 30%, and enhance yields by as much as 45%.
